SUMMARY:Introduction to Landscape Painting with Acrylic Paint
DESCRIPTION:Gualala Arts is pleased to present “Introduction to Landscape Painting with Acrylic Paint” with instructor Marty Kitzel. The cost of the workshop is $70 for Gualala Arts Members\, and $100 for Non-Members\, for sign-up information contact Kendra at Kendra@GualalaArts.org. All proceeds from this workshop are a fundraiser for Gualala Arts. \nThis course will be focused on fundamentals and technical knowledge. Both methods of working in both light to dark and dark to light\, opaquely and translucently will be demonstrated with a working section in each session. Demonstrations will include a basic how-to for mixing colors and creating a composition. \nInstructor Marty Kitzel is retired from the construction industry but always kept drawing and painting in his spare time\, taking on various projects from album art\, to sign painting\, to furniture design and portraiture. Marty divides his time between Gualala and Sonoma Valley\, drawing\, painting\, and gardening. He also has extensive education in painting\, and printmaking while studying at St. Bonaventure University\, Buffalo State College\, and earned a degree in illustration from the Academy of Art College in San Francisco.

SUMMARY:Point Arena Lighthouse (almost) Full Worm Moon Night Tour
DESCRIPTION:The Point Arena Lighthouse continues its popular Full Moon Night Tours with an (almost) Full Worm Moon Night Tour on Saturday\, March 23. Gates open 7:30 p.m.\, tour starts around 8 p.m. The evening will feature a special presentation about the Light Station’s history and technology\, sweet and savory snacks accompanied by champagne or sparkling juice\, capped off by a guided “Climb to the Top” tour of the tallest lighthouse on the West Coast under the rising full moon – if the weather cooperates\, of course! An etched Point Arena Lighthouse souvenir champagne flute is included in the price of admission for each participant\, which is $50 per person. Reservations must be made at least three days in advance of the tour. While the tour is scheduled to coordinate with the full moon\, weather conditions may preclude lunar visibility. The tours are conducted regardless of weather conditions\, unless the Lighthouse Staff deems them to potentially cause safety issues for the guests. In the event the tour is cancelled\, guests will receive a full refund. \nAccording to the Old Farmer’s Almanac in Native American and early Colonial times the Full Moon in March was called the Full Worm Moon. The ground begins to soften and earthworm casts reappear\, inviting the return of robins. This has also been called the Sap Moon\, as it marks the time when maple sap begins to flow and the annual tapping of maple trees begins. \nThe Lighthouse offers Full Moon and (almost) Full Moon Night Tours throughout the year on the Saturday closest to the full moon if it doesn’t fall on that day. SUMMARY:Class: Unique Sheets of Handmade Paper or Paper Making\, the Next Level with Bob Rhoades
DESCRIPTION:Class Description:\nThis class will teach students how to make unique sheets of handmade paper from Mulberry bark(kozo ). The process of growing\, harvesting\, cooking\, cleaning\, and beating will be discussed. You will also work with recycled paper fibers from good quality paper. The class will emphasize the many strategies for producing one-of-a-kind sheets with inclusions\, lace paper techniques\, drawing pulp\, and pulp coloring. Students may wish to bring dried flower petals\, small leaves\, or bits of yarn or string for inclusions. \nIf you have any questions please email classes@pacifictextilearts.org

DESCRIPTION:Pennyroyal Farm’s in-depth estate tour series\, Farmstead Fodder covers our most requested topics on dairy\, creamery\, animal husbandry\, regenerative farming\, and culinary gardening. Each tour will conclude with a short thematic seminar and a cheese tasting and wine flight (adults 21+) or juice for youth and non-drinkers. \n“Just Kidding” is a special barn tour hosted by herd manager and head cheesemaker Erika Mckenzie-Chapter featuring our newest members of the farm plus a tasting of our springtime cheeses. The March 23 tour is open to all ages and the March 30 will be a family version\, better suited for younger children. All children under 18 must be accompanied by an adult supervisor.
